Sleep Apnea and Brain Damage

Can sleep apnea cause brain damage?

With sleep apnea, a person stops breathing for short periods of time during sleep. Oxygen deprivation occurs which, over an extended period of time, can cause some brain damage. If you suspect that you may have sleep apnea, it is very important to have a sleep study so you can be properly treated.
