20/13 is when the new DSM comes out and it is going to
be very interesting to see the changes that they are
going to make in it and how it is going to impact how I
diagnose and what types of services are going to be
available for patients because the DSM that we used to
assess as psychologists it has a lot of kind of catch
all categories that you are really not quite sure where
the person fits in, you are going to put him over here,
and you know now they are finding out there is a lot
more different categories and different things going on
with our researches these days so hopefully there are
going to be some really good positive changes to the way
that we are able to diagnose because we have to follow
you know the rules and guidelines that we are given even
if we do not always agree with them, we got to play by
it, and so sometimes that can be very frustrating from a
provider standpoint because we can see that this is what
is going on, but there is no where that this person
really fits in this to be able to give him the diagnosis
that they need. So it will be interesting to see what
happens.
