How can Occupational Therapy help kids with sensory
issues?
I think about a child who has sensory issues and once
they have gotten ridden of all of that, that static,
that junk they have been carrying around, how much more
relaxed they have to feel. I mean I hear sometimes they
go home and they sleep for a long time or they have
headaches or things like that. You know but it does, I
mean there is something to save for, for what it pulls
together for them. It is really cool when kids start
learning to take the stuff that they learned in OT and
go "I need my brush now, I need to be brushed on my
arms, or I need you know whatever it is pressure points
or I need you know my weight vest or whatever it is. So
you know it is interesting to see kids actually start
ask for that because they know it just relieves that
weight that they have in them and that irritation and
makes things better.
